BALDASSARE ESTENSE (Ital.). Painter and Medallist of Ferrara, born at Reggio, about 1443. In 1468, he was serving the Duke of Milan, but from 1469 he appears to have been working for the Duke of Ferrara until 1476, when he went to Reggio, where he still was in 1493. In 1497, he had gone back to Ferrara, and a document quoted by Campori proves that he was still living in 1504, soon after .which he must have died. He made his will in 1500 and was then Governor of the Tedaldo Castle at Ferrara. Two...
