BENKISER (Germ.). A Pforzheim manufacturer, who published a medal commemorating the dedication of a monument to Charles Frederick of Baden in the Pforzheim Palace Church. It was struck in 1833, and presented to the then reigning Grand Duke Leopold. Bibliography. — Kunstblatt, 1833.

BARTELS (?), BARTOLD (Germ.). Mint-master to the Dukes of Brunswick-Luneburg, first half of the seventeenth century; 1620- 1624, Mint-master at Lauenburg; 1626, at Winsen; 1630, at Harburg. He was son-in-law of the Lüneburg Mint-master, Jonas Georgens. There is a medal of Julius Heinrich von Lauenburg, dated 1626, which is attributed to him, on the ground of similarity of work between this piece and the monetary issues of Duke Julius Ernest of Braunschweig-Dannenberg (illustrated).
