EDLING, JOHANN JOACHIM (Austr.). Mint-master at St. Pölten, 1624; distinctive symbol, a French double-lily. A thaler of 1625 bears the artist's initials I. I.E. and the lily. In 1627 he undertook the management of the Mint of Gitschin, and previous to 1624, he had worked the Presburg Mint. On the 15th of March, 1625, M. Fellner was instated Master of the Mint at St Pölten, but on the 13th September of the same year, Edling contracted for it again, and had to finally give it up at the end of 1625. In medieval and early modern Germany, the Münzmeister ("mint master", the Latin term is monetarius) was the director or administrator of a mint, a moneyer with responsibility for the minting of coins, or specie. His duties were defined differently at different locations and ages.

His name is indifferently spelt Drapentier, Trappentier, or Trapentier.
