In medieval and early modern Germany, the Münzmeister ("mint master", the Latin term is monetarius) was the director or administrator of a mint, a moneyer with responsibility for the minting of coins, or specie. His duties were defined differently at different locations and ages.

DUBOIS, ALPHÉE (French). Medallist and Sculptor, born at Paris in 1831. Pupil of J. J. Barre and Duret. He won the Prix de Rome in 1855, and medals at the Salons of 1868 and 1869. In 1883 he was elected a Knight of the Legion of Honour. His father was the medallist Joseph Eugéne Dubois.
