He was appointed on the 14th of April 1594 tailleur particulier de la monnaie" and obtained from the King, on the 5th of May of the same year, con- firmation of his nomination. GOETZE, GOTTLIEB (Germ.). Medallist of the second quarter of the nineteenth century. He filled the post of Medallist to the Mint at Berlin, between 1830-1840, when on account of increasing blindness he retired to his native town of Suhl. This talented artist would have accomplished much more, had not his failing eyesight obliged him to give up his profession.
