HACHTEN, DAVID GERHARD VON (Germ.). Medallist and Coin-engraver at the Mint of Hamburg, 1704-1726. His initials V. H. or the signature : VON HACHTEN, appear on his medals. He also worked for the Court of Sweden. De Grave was born at Ghent on the 26th of May 1770, and died on the 9th of October 1832. In 1792 he obtained the First Prize for Drawing at the Academy of his native town.
