HANES, GUILLAUME (French). Goldsmith and Coin-engraver to the Duke of Lorraine, Rene II., circa 1484-86. He was commis- sioned to cut seals for the Duke, and was paid " 28 livres tournois in XV escuz d'or" for this work. It is possible that Hanes engraved the coinage of Gros doubles, Gros simples, Half Gros, Blancs and Mailles issued according to an order of the 3rd November, 1484.
