HARTMANN, ADAM (Austr.). Son of the Viennese Mint-master Andrae Hartmann, and Mint-master himself from 1557 to 1579. In 1569 he was commissioned to strike, in conjunction with Thomas Händl, Warden, 102 Mark 12 Loth of Gold in Ducats, and 19 Mark 12 Loth of Silver in Thalers. He coined silver in 1573 for the widowed Princess Katharina Bathiany, and is mentioned in numerous Mint documents until 1579, when he was obliged to resign the post of Mint-master.
