HORVATTE, LOUIS EUGENE (French). Contemporary Medallist and Gem-engraver. He was born, and resides, at Paris. At the Salon of 1879, he exhibited a cameo representing the "Rape of Amymone", after Giacomotti; and another, cut in sardonyx, " La Chiesa, " after Raphael. His latest work was exhibited at the Salon of 1903, a cameo on sardonyx, "Flora pursued by Cupids carrying away Zephyrus. He appears to have worked for the Medal Mint, and engraved several jetons and perhaps also some medals belonging to the Napoleonic Series.
