LIPPI, FILIPPINO (Ital.) . Florentine Painter (1460-1504); son of Fra Filippo Lippi ; he is presumed to have been a pupil of Botticelli. His earliest known work is the " Vision of St. Bernard" in Florence, and he executed various works in Bologna, Genoa and Rome ; painted frescoes and altar-pieces, and scenes in the lives of St. Peter and St. Paul. Friedländer has suggested him as the author of some medals of Lucrezia Borgia, which are however undoubtedly the work of Gian Cristoforo Romano, (q. v.)
