In medieval and early modern Germany, the Münzmeister ("mint master", the Latin term is monetarius) was the director or administrator of a mint, a moneyer with responsibility for the minting of coins, or specie. His duties were defined differently at different locations and ages.

MAJANO, BENEDETTO DA (Ital.). Sculptor of the last decade of the fifteenth century, to whom Friedländer suggests the attribution of a Portrait-medal of Giovanni Tornabuoni, a variety of which is dated 1492. Armand describes it under the works of the Médailleur ? I' Espérance. Prof. W. Bode has however no ascribed this medal also to Niccolo Spinelli of Florence. In his art are two Reliefs in bronze, representing the Madonna enthroned, and another, in silvered bronze, of St. Sebastian. Bibliograph...
