MONTAUTI, ANTONIO (ltal.). A Florentine Sculptor, Architect, and Medallist of the first half of the eighteenth century, who died in 1740. He first worked in his native town, later at Rome, and distinguished himself in architecture as well as in sculpture. He was a pupil of Giuseppe Piamontini. At Rome he was entrusted with the superintendence of the building of St. Peter's.
