NELL, HANS (Germ.). Line-engraver, and Medallist of the second quarter of the sixteenth century, at Augsburg, mentioned by Bolzenthal, after Stetten, as the author of a Portrait-medallion of Charles V., circ. 1540. Stetten has omitted to describe this medal, and it is therefore impossible to recognize it among the great number dedicated to the fame of this monarch. Bibliography. — Bolzenthal, op. cit. — Stetten, Kunst-, Gewerb- und Handwerks- Geschichte der Reichstadt Augsburg, 1779. — Nagler, op. cit.
