In medieval and early modern Germany, the Münzmeister ("mint master", the Latin term is monetarius) was the director or administrator of a mint, a moneyer with responsibility for the minting of coins, or specie. His duties were defined differently at different locations and ages.

PAPALEO PIETRO (Ital.). Sicilian Sculptor, who flourished towards the end of the seventeenth century and beginning of the eighteenth. He was born at Palermo, but settled at Rome, where in 1695 he became a member of the Academy of San Luca. By him is the Chapel with San Giovanni della Croce in the church of Santa Maria della Scala. PAPILLON (French). Medallist of the first half of the seventeenth century. Mazerolle places the date of his activity between 1600 and 1632. Nothing is known about him. His signature : PAPILLON occurs on two Portrait-medals of Henry II. of Bourbon, prince of Condé, one of which is dated 1632 (illustrated). These medals are not of striking merit.
